Maths

I am learning to know addition groups within 5. I am playing my number cruncher game where I have to recognise additions to 5.

"4 + 1=5 and 2 +3=5 if you flip the numbers it is still the same like 3 +2 =5" said Anthony

Writing

I am learning to write tidy so that anyone can read my stories. Look at my letters and how they are sitting on the line.

"I can write on the line" said Anthony

Reading

I am learning to match up capital letters to lowercase letters. They look different but have the same sound. Here I am playing my match up game!

"I can match up capitals to lowercase! I can do the whole alphabet" said Anthony

Butterfly Art

We learnt how to make stain glass windows. Look at my beautiful butterfly.

"Look at my butterfly flying" said Anthony.

Maths

I am learning to add on from 5. Here I am playing my maths game activity Mr Potato Head. I roll the dice and add that number on from 5.

"I know that 5 + what is on the dice you add together. 5 + 2 will be 7 and you add on from the 5" said Anthony.

Showcase

We are learning to grow our own plants. We know it needs sun and water to grow. Take a look at what 4 weeks of growing looks like! 

"I am growing my plant with water so it will grow tall. Mine is growing tall" said Anthony

Writing

I can publish my story writing and illustrate my work. In our big book we learnt about the life cycle of a chicken. Here is my chicken.

"I illustrate my work and here is my picture of my chicken" said Anthony

Reading

I am learning to sound out three letter words. I am learning to write my three letter words down. I found all the words that rhyme together.

"I am matching words together that sound the same. Hug, dug, mug and bug all sound the same and then I write it on my whiteboard" said Anthony.

Reading

I am learning to look at the pictures to help me with unknown words.

"I look at picture to help me or so I can see who's in the book" said Anthony.

Rugby Clinic

I am learning how to hold the ball and run in Rugby. I am learning how to pass the ball to a friend.

Swimming

I am having such a great time in the pool!  I am learning so much confidence in the water! 

Writing

Look at my writing at the beginning of the year and look at it now! I am learning so many things in writing like how to use finger spaces.

I am learning how to write numbers correctly to 10 and how to put them in order! I am on my way to learning more numbers!

Welcome to my Year 1 learning blog. This year I am in room 6 and my teacher is Miss Johnston.
